RETENTION BY CANTERBURY SHIELD AND CASKET GAMES [BY TELEGRAPH' —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHKISTCHURCH, Sunday Canterbury retained both the Anthony Wilding Memorial Shield and the Kathleen Nunneley Casket yesterday in the men's and ladies' matches respectively, against Wellington. On Friday Canterbury had gained a lead in both series of four matches to two and yesterday the men maintained their proportion and won by 8 matches to 4. The ladies won five out of the six matches played yesterday. Results:— WILDING SHIELD Singles.—Angas beat ltoussell, 6—i, 6—3; Barnett beat Coombe, 6—3, 6—4; Cant lost to Charters, I—6, 4—6; Dymond beat Ferkins, 7—5, 3—G, 7 —5. Doubles. —Angas and Barnett beat Roussoll and Ferkins, B—6,8 —6, 6 —3; Cant and Dymond lost to Coombe and Charters, 7 —9, 6—3, 4—6. Totals.—Canterbury, 8 matches, 18 sets. 144 games; Wellington, 4 matches. 9 sets, 109 games. NUNNELEY CASKET Singles.—Miss T. Poole lost to Miss Nicholls, 9—7, I—6, 2—6; Miss I. Poole beat Mrs. Dickson, 10 —8, 0—1; Miss Bishop beat Miss Howe. 6—3. 6 —3; Miss lludkin beat Mrs. Latham. 4—b, 6—3, 6 —l. . Doubles.—Misses T. and 1.
