DOG THAT BROADCAST
WINNER OF ENGLISH TRIALS ANIMAL FOR NEW ZEALAND The most spoiled creature on the motor-ship Empire Star, which arrived on Friday from London, is a collie dog which has a distinguished record at sheep-dog trials in England. It has held the title of English champion, and is being sent to Wellington, where it will be used for stud purposes.
The animal has the novel distinction in the canine world of having broadcast. Arrangements were made by the British Broadcasting Corporation to give an /account of a sheep-dog trial over the air, and Meg, as the animal is called, was selected for the performance. Microphones were placed that the dog's barking •could be heard, and a running commentary on the progress of the event was given. Many of the ship's company had heard the broadcast before Meg came on board the Empire Star. The animal is very friendly and proved a great favourite with everyone on board during the voyage.
