The Elderslie Stud recently purchased Quietly, by Chief Ruler from Timid, from Mr. H. L. Bowker, and tho maro will bo mated with Iliad. Quiotly's yearling sister was recently bought for Australia at tho Trentham sales for 360 guineas. Silver Streak, who cost Mr. E. Aubrey 55 guineas as a yearling, has started 95 times and won 20 races. His total winnings amount to £3740, about £IO7O of which has been won during tho current season. For a time ho ran in tho colours of his trainer, T. Hobbs, but ho has always been owned by Mr. Aubrey.

Fivo proved a lucky number on the opening day of tho Egniont Racing Club's meeting on Wednesday, horses carrying that saddle-cloth winning five times out of six starts. The only failure was Gay Broney in tho Egmont Cup, which was won by Aussie Ha, who was No. 6. However, Gay Broney was successful in the chief event on tho second day, when ho returned his supporters a useful dividend.

In addition to registering tho race record time of 2.30 1-5, Silver Ring also established a weight-carrying record for the Dunedin Cup when he succeeded under 10.4 on Thursday. The highest weight previously carried to victory was Warstcp's 9.13 in 1915. while Pilliewinkie held tho time record of 2.31, established in 1925. A. E. Ellis, who rode Silver Ring, was previously successful on Loughrea, who won carrying 9.5 in 1924.
