THE PRICE OF BREAD

Sir, —Surely in fixing the price of bread the Government did not intend the retailer to suffer a loss such as lie must do in having to find wrapping paper, pay rent, light, and give his time and labour for Gd per dozen, when the old margin of 9d per dozen was little enough. I feel sure the bakers would rather pay 9d or Is per dozen than stand the cost of delivery, with its attendant worries and expense, to say nothing of bad debts. Live and Let Live.
