FINES AT TAUMARUNUI [by telegraph—own correspondent] TAUMARUNUI, Friday Several charges of selling liquor in no-licence- areas were heard before Mr. It. M. Watson, S.M.*, in the Magistrate's Court to-day. On two charges of selling liquor in a proclaimed p.o-lic<jnce area at Taumaruntii, J. D. Hawkless was fined £.lO. J H. Butler was fined £2O for selling liquor at Manunui and A. Putnin was fined £SO for selling liquor at Taurnartinui. Another uncompleted case against A. M. Greip' was adjourned. Constable C. A. Lane, of Auckland, in November and December, was stated to have taken a position in a box factory and resided at a loral boarding house. He was introduced to a sly-<:rog house by a fellow-worker and supplied with liquor, the charges being a result.
