WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
TROTTING AT EPSOM MOTOR-CYCLE RACING An unusually large number of sport-, ing attractions has been arranged for the week-end. Much interest will centre in the first day of the Auckland Troting Club's February meeting at Alexandra Park to-day. The meeting will be concluded on Monday. A large attendance is expected at the carnival to be held at Carlaw Park by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The third and final test match between England and the Colonies will be held at the Western Springs Speedway to-nieht. The English team will comprise Langton. Greatrex, Clibbett and Harrison, while Case, Van Praag, A. Mattson and Goldberg will ride for the colonial side.
The principal cricket matches will be the first grade games between Grafton and Ponsonby, and Parnell and Eden, at Eden Park. It is likely that considerable interest also will be taken in the women's representative match, Auckland versus Wellington, to be played at Eden Park at two o'clock. Competitions will be continued on most bowling greens. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron's annual long-distnnce race to Te Kouma for the T. M. Alexander Memorial Cup, and the harbour race for M class boats for the Drysdale Cup, will commence at two o'clock, while the Victoria Cruising Club's annual regatta will be held this afternoon.
Trial eights will be conducted by the West End Rowing Club and trial fours by the Waitemata, Auckland, St. George's and North Shore Clubs. The North Shore Swimming Club will' hold two harbour races for junior swimmers at Cheltenham Beach, and the aquatic competitions in connection with the Northcote and Birkenhead regatta will be held near the Birkenhead Wharf. Competitions will be held by a number of athletic clubs.
