LATE KING GEORGE
LOSS TO THE EMPIRE VISCOUNT GALWAY'S TRIBUTE [from our own* correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Friday Reference to the death of His Majesty King George was made by the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, when opening the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society's show to-day. The Empire had suffered a very severe blow, said His Excellency, but there was one helpful feature, that by the 25 vears of King George's reign the Throne had been left in a stronger position than it had probably ever been in before. King Edward VOL had a very heavy and responsible position, but he was fully capable. He had a sympathetic heart, a sympathetic nature, and a determination to follow in "the footsteps of his father.
