MARKETING OF PRODUCE
REQUIREMENTS IN ENGLAND MORE ATTENTION NEEDED [by TELEGBAFH —OWN cobrespondent] WELLINGTON, Friday More attention to the marketing of New Zealand produce in England was urged by Mr. T. Reynolds, managingdirector of Vacuum Products (N.Z.), Limited, who returned by the Rangitiki yesterday from a visit to England. "During my two years' absence J have had an opportunity of visiting the main trading centres and have gathered some idea of retailers' requirements," Mr. Reynolds said. "The British retailer is a very staunch supporter of New Zealand products and what complaint he has is mostly on the variation in the standard of cheese. The general view, however, among retailers is that a great improvement in manufacture has taken place during the past two years.
"I do not share the views of many New Zealanders resident in England as to the quality of the Dominion's butter and cheese. In my opinion New Zealand produces the finest products in the world and is handicapped only by distance and marketing conditions. It is very difficult to understand why tho most important branch of business has received so little attention or, one should say, so little useful attention. In England, like most other countries, it is quite an easy matter to give things away, while to obtain full values requires expert salesmanship and the employment of judicious propaganda."
