EXTENSION TO OPOTIKI VIEWS OF PRIME MINISTER [by TELEGBArn OWN CORRESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Thursday The possibility of the extension of the east coast railway to Opotiki was mentioned in a letter from Mr. A. G. Hultquist, M.P. for Bay of Plenty, which was received at a meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council. Mr. Hultquist said he had discussed with the Prime Minister. Mr. Savage, the question or tne extension of the east coast railway from Taneatua to Opotiki. The Prime Minister had again reiterated his previously expressed opinion that as far as lie could see Opotiki was entitled to be connected direct with the railhead. Mr. Savage had given an assurance that the Government would consider the question fully and had expressed the opinion that all aspects of the proposal to finish the railway would be fully considered and fresh estimates for the completion of the work would first bo prepared.
