A FAREWELL DANCE
NEWS FROM THE NORTH A farewell dance was tendered by the residents of Whangaruru South in the Mokau Hall, to Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wilson, who are leaving the district. During tho evening several hakas were given by the Maoris under the direction of Matiu Kaukoa. Opportunity was taken to present a travelling rug to Mrs. Wilson and a chiming clock to Mr. Wilson. Air. Donaldson spoke on behalf of the Europeans and "Rangatira" Hepi Hauka on behalf, of tho Maoris. Mrs. H. Cotter, of Whau Valley, is visiting Auckland. Mrs. G. Harrison, Shorthand Street. Whangarei, has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Mrs. C. Bevins, Manse Street, Whangarei, is holidaying in Auckland. Mi ss I. Balolinscy has returned to her home in Kohukohu from a visit to Thames. Mrs. Williams and family, of Maungaturoto, are on a holiday visit to Auckland. Mrs. D. Cook, Kamo Road, Whangarei, is spending a holiday at Matapouri. Mrs. Harman Smith, Hatea Street, Whangarei, is spending the school holidays at Matapouri. Mrs. A. J. Clegg, of Wellington, has been holidaying at Wnipu Cove. Mrs. T. C. Aickin, of Paparoa, has returned from a. visit to Auckland. Mrs. J. Donaldson, Kamo Road, Whangarei, is at Matapouri. Mrs. W. T. Surman, Kamo Road, Whangarei, has returned from a holiday visit in the Auckland district. Mrs. Spencer Day, Graham Street, Whangarei, has returned from a visit to the Auckland district. Miss May Codling, of the Whangaruru South school, is spending her sum>mer holidays in Christchurch. Miss Davey, of Point Chevalier, Auckland, is visiting Hikurangi and is a guest of her aunt, Mrs. J. Orr, Waro. Mesdames W. and .T. Graham, of Hikurangi, are visiting Auckland. Mrs. J. Graham will later visit Gisborne.
