HEAD-ON COLLISION

RETIRED FARMER KILLED ACCIDENT ON BEACH ROAD [bt TELEGRAPH OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday The death of Mr. Ronald McLean, a retired farmer, of Ohawe, near Hawera, resulted to-night from a headon collision in which Mrs. George Montgomery Stafford, of Sydney, who is touring Xew Zealand with her husband, was involved on the road to Ohawe Beach this afternoon. Mrs. Stafford was turning her car into the road to the beach when it met Mr. McLean's, car with a crash. Mr. McLean, who appeared to have struck his face on the steering wheel was seen to be in a dazed condition, and after leaving the -ear he collapsed. He was found to have received serious internal injuries, from which he died a fe* hours later.
