TOTAL TO DECEMBER 31 SUM OF £1,772,183 REALISED RETURNS FOR SIX SALES INCREASE OVER ONE MILLION Woolgrowers in Now Zealand have already received over £1,000,000 more on account of the first- .sis sales ot the season up to the end of last .year than was received for the corresponding sales in ]9-51. If this rate is maintained, it is probable that the full season's clip will net over £8,000,000, against £l,.' 157,470 realised last season. In 1933-34 the clip was worth £10,2-11,011, which was the highest return since £11,874,493 was distributed in 1928-29. To the end of last year only six sales had been held out of a total of 27 sales for the season. A comparison of bales sold and realisations and the average price a bale for the period is as follows: — Bales Value Per Bale Sold £ £ a d 1933 .. Ll'.). 7IG 2.270.518 16 0 1931 .. 78,432 752.3-13 912 0 1935 .. 134.113 1.772,183 13 4 0 ' It is estimated that the Australian clip this season will realise £50,000,000, which estimate may be slightly on the high side. However, if about £58,000,000 is realised for both Australia and New Zealand the return will be the highest, excepting the 1933-34 figure of £02,017,000, since the 1928-29 total of £69,339,000. The Australian and New Zealand clip last season realised only £43,013,000. Sales and realisations in Australia for the six months, July-December, compare as follows: — Bales Value Per Bale Sold £ £ s d 1933 .. 1,500,095 28,574.093 18 18 0 1934 .. 1,255.582 J 5.795,333 12 9 0 1935 . . 1,473,091 25,127,119 17 0 0 Of a total of 2,467,206 bales available in Australia, 1,473,091 bales, or 59 per cent, had been sold to the end of December, compared with 48 per cent in the corresponding period of 1934-35.
