UNION SERVICE STARTED FIRST SCHEDULED FLIGHT [bt telegraph—press association] DUNEDIN, Thursday The "Union Airways liner Karoro, with Flight-Lieutenant A. G. Gerrand as pilot, left the Taieri airport at 11.33 this morning on the first scheduled flight to Palmerston North with four passengers for Christchurch and two for Palmerston North CROSSING COOK STRAIT POPULARITY OF SERVICE [by TELEGRAPH —I'RESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday The popularity achieved by the air service across the Cook Strait is shown by the fact that in the last 15 days over 4tX) passengers have been carried. Full loads are now being taken on practically every trip and an extra afternoon crossing, Wellington to Blenheim and back to Wellington, has had to be introduced to cope with the demand. Cook Strait Airways desires to carry mails as well as passengers, but has had no definite advice from the Government. SOUTHWARD JOURNEY FOURTEEN PERSONS CARRIED [by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH. Thursday Flying to schedule the Kotuku inaugurated Union Airways' service between Palmerston North and Dunedin from this terminus this morning, carrying 14 passengers. MACHINES AT BLENHEIM CO-ORDINATED SERVICES [BY TELEGRAPH —rRESS ASSOCIATION] BLENHEIM. Thursday The trunk air service was inaugurated to-day with the arrival of the Kotuku from Palmerston North, followed a few minutes later by the Cook Strait machine from Wellington. The two services are co-ordinating perfectly, and the weather continues ideal.
