VARIOUS STATE OFFICES SWING TO REPUBLICANS / i (Received November 6, 10.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. G Tho regained control of the Now York State Assembly at the elections yesterday. They turned the previous Democrat majority of four into a Republican majority of 14. Leaders of the Republican Party interpret the victory as an indication of vanishing support for President Roosevelt's "new deal." A Republican trend was also evident in tho mayoral elections in various States. In New Jersey, where national issues also were raised, the Republicans led in most of the contests for the General Assembly and the State Senate. Philadelphia's vindictive mayoral campaign was decided in favour of Mr. Davis Wilson (Republican) over Mr. John Kelly (Democrat). San Francisco re-elected its Mayor, Mr. Angelo Rossi. Virginia and Mississippi returned Democrat nominees, as was expected.
