HEARING DENIED
MR. J. H. THOMAS STAFFORDSHIRE MEETING TWO BLIND CANDIDATES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Nov. 5 The Dominions Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, was again howled down at a meeting at which he w&s to have spoken on behalf of his son Leslie, who is contesting Leek, in Staffordshire. The son also had a hostile reception and the meeting ended abruptly. Two blind candidates are engaged in hot contests. Sir lan Fraser is defending North S r t. Jancras against Labour and Liberal opponents. A blind Labour candidate is opposing Mr. Anthony Eden at Warwick. The Government's organisers continue to complain of apathy, but election meetings all over the country are crowded. The Earl of Stonehaven, on behalf of the Conservatives, has issued an urgent appeal for funds, emphasising that expenses are heavier than in 1931 because there are many contests where Government candidates were unopposed last time.
