AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB
Tho Avondalo Women's Club celebrated its 10th birthday by holding a reunion of past and present members in the Blockhouse Bay Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Tho stage and front of tho hall had been attractivoly arranged with easy chairs and bowls of flowers, in which tho club colours, blue, gold and green, were prominent. Miss Newton, tho president, wolcomcd tho visitors. Among those present were 10 who had attended tho first meeting in 1625. They were Mrs. J. W. Kealy, tho originator of the club and its first president, Mesdames Fairburn and Rudd (visitors), and Mesdames Pendlebury, Oxonhain, Armanasco, Thom, Myers and Greep, and Miss Draper (present members). An enjoyable programme included songs by Mrs. Owen, Mrs. Beamish and Miss Nancy Gilmore, and recitations by Mrs. Tato. A photograph guessing competition, which caused much interest, was won by Mrs. Aborcrombie. A birthday cako, mado by Mrs. Blumenthal and decorated by Mrs. Avhale. was cut by Mrs. Kealy, who told of tho origin of tho club.
