AUCKLAND CIRCUIT

DISTRIBUTION OF STAKES TAKANINI STABLES TOP LIST BY ABAYDOS During the five days' trotting at Waikato, Auckland and Thames the sum of £-1-110 was distributed in stakes and the Takanini stables of F. J. Smith and W. Clifton were the most successful, winning £1485. Waikato horses won £1305, Epsom £905 and Mangere £420. Five horses from Wellington and Manawatu raced at Waikato and Auckland, gaining £295. The Takanini representatives did well at Epsom, collecting £BOO, sevon of F. J. Smith's team accounting for £695, War Paint, who won the Jellicoe and Labour Day Handicaps, earned £470, including two fine trophies, and Bonny Azure, who also won twice, secured £2OO. Minor placings by Nellota, Travis, Baron Alfonso, Pearl Parrisli and Nelson Luvan completed Smith's total at Epsom.

As she also won the chief race at Thames, War Paiut was a good winner for Dr. M. G. Pezaro and Mr. E. G. Bridgens, her total'winnings being £6OO inclusive of three trophies. It was intended to'start War Paint in the Kopu Handicap at Thames, in which she was handicapped on 2.46, but, owing to the handicapping rule which demands a 12 yards penalty for a shorter race ait-or winning at two miles the same day and the fact that had she again won another 12 yards would havo resulted, she was withdrawn. ■Gold Dredge had only one race at Epsom, which sho duly won, securing £lO5. Sho achieved a similar feat at Hamilton, where her stable mate Peter Junior also scored in his only start. Peter Junior was unplaced in the saddle race at Auckland, but W. Clifton gained the fine record of threo wins for three drives. These successes gave the owner, Mrs. C. McGregor, £.300, and n handsomo trophy valued at 20 guineas Waikato stables registered four successes at tho Auckland meeting, which, with a few minor placings, realised £455. Edna Worthy, who won the llemuera Handicap, gained £l3O, while Our McKinney, for a first, a second and a third, obtained £125. King's Play, with a first and a third, won £95, and Waskasu, winning her first race after several seasons' racing in various interests, secured £BO. King's Play was also successful at the Waikato and Thames meetings. Edna Worthy registered her second success of the season at Epsom, but failed at Waikato and Wellington, which are left-handed courses.

Epsom horses had a very useful innings at local meeting, and for five wins and a number of places earned £625. Young Rodney, for a first and a second, earned £lls, and was closely followed by Silver Watch, £llO, and Audo Patch, £105; each running a first and a third. Elissa netted £95 for a win and a second, while Cherrill, who scored her first success when she surprised in tho Newmarket Handicap, -won £BO. Nimbus, who seldom fails to win a race at .Alexandra Park, had to Be content with a second and third for £GS, and his second place cost him 12 yards. Supertax's Earnings

The Hutt Park-trained Supertax was' tho most successful of the visiting horses, his fine victory in the Electric Handicap and second in the Remuera Handicap giving hira £l6O, while he secured £ls for his second at Hamilton. Supertax has won races also at Addington, Wellington, Hawera and Avvapuni in recent months and has paid his way wherever ho has raced. Logan's Pride and Rare Rey, from Wellington, and Manoeuvre and Replica, from Ashhurst, each secured some place-money. Mangere candidates secured only £lB5 at Auckland, the sole winner, Hot Point, winning £BO. He wan making his ftrst appearance and. left; a very good impression. J. .T. Paul also obtained place-money with Nelspcar and Ringtrue. Tho latter, who could only deau-heat for third with Travis, was not in his best form. J. G. Robertson had exasperating luck with his charges Bond, Ironside and Herod filling minor placiqgs for £SO. Kowpie's Bond has now registered six consecutive seconds. Waikato-trained horses did' best at Hamilton, securing £595, which wsis £OO more than the amount Collected by Takanini candidates. Captain Bolt, who won both trotting races," headefd the list with £lso. Mr. W. Johnstone's horses, King's Guide and King's Play, with a first and a. third, and King's Knight, with a third,, annexed ,£l4O. Other winners wpre Tryment, who also ran second, £BO, Willie DQrby, £75, and Roeke'ila, £7O. In addition to the last-named, C. Moran was placed with Bonnie Direct and General Sarsfield, making his earnings £lO5. King's Warrior was the main Takanini winner at Hamilton, securing £l5O for a win and a second, but Mrs. C. McGregor was* the leading owner, Gold Dredge and Peter Junior returning her £215. Travis, with a first and a third, gained £BS, Bonny Azure, with one win, netting £65.
