SPACIOUS HANGAR

UNION AIRWAYS SERVICE PALMERSTON NORTH BUILDING The hangar which is to be built for Union Airways, Limited, at Palmerston North, at a total cost of £14,000, wfill bo the largest for commercial aircraft in New Zealand. It will be 180 ft. by 70ft., giving a floor space of over 12,000 square feet. Accommodation will be furnished for five multiengined machines of the type which the company is importing for its service, as well as subsidiary aircraft. The frame will be of steel, the front supported by concrete pylons at the ends and in the centre Sixteen steel doors will fold back against the sides of the hangar. They will have an inside clearance of 26ft. The building will face on to a concrete apron leading to the landing ground. The first two of the four-engined machines to be used on the service will bo delivered at Lyttclton for assembly at Wigram aerodrome on November 27. Another will bo landed on December 1. These will be of the DHB6 type used on tho SingaporeBrisbane section of the route from England to Australia. The Miles Falcon taxi machine will be landed in New Zealand on December 18.
