CHRISTMAS DAY FILMS
WHANGAREI INNOVATION [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI. Tuesday Whangarei for the first time is permitting pictures to be screened on Christmas night. In response to applications from the local picture theatre proprietors the Borough Council "at its meeting last evening decided to grant their request to screen pictures on Christmas night, provided the entire programme is first screened to a special committee of the council. For some years similar requests have been made to the council, but declined. The special committee appointed was the Mayor, Mr. \V. Jones, Messrs. G. H. Morris, A. T. Brainsby and N. E. Crnnp.
