GAME IN DOMINION
COMING TOUR BY M.C.C. NEGOTIATIONS WITH INDIA PLUNKET SHIELD CONTESTS A highly successful tour by the M.C.C. team, to arrive in New Zealand on December 9, is anticipated in the report to be presented at tho annual meeting of tho Now Zealand Cricket Council in Christchurch on Friday. Arrangements have also been completed, continues the report, for the English test team which will visit Australia next soason to como to New Zealand in March. In addition, negotiations are being made with the Maharajah of Nawanagar for a visit of an Indian team in December, 19;J6. The tour will bo confined to tho Dominion, and it is hoped that K. S. Duleepsinhji will bo included in the team. A histoiy of New Zealand cricket has been prepared, and it is hoped to have the bonk published at Christmas. The North v. South Island match was played in WcllinKton during the past year and was most successful from the playing point ot vie Financially the match was a loss to the council. Tho suggestion that I lunket Shield games be curtailed by one day is a matter lor tho major associations, but any interference with these mutches would bo regretted by the council. The council hopes to nave the first call on t>layers for the four New Zealand fixtures. The Plunket Shield competition wna won by Canterbury, whose slip fielding was the best seen in New Zealand for many years. The performance of P. E. Whitelaw in scoring 115 and 155 against Wellington was the first time two centuries had been made by the one player in one game since tlio inception of the competition. Difficulty was again experienced in arranging Hawke Cup matches to the satisfaction of all associations concerned. The holder, Taranaki, was defeated ,by Mnnawatu by one wicket in its first match. The Redpath Cup again went to an Auckland player, being awarded to P. E. Whitelaw.
