GUN CLUB CHARGED
LIQUOR AT SHOOT
CONTRIBUTIONS BY MEMBERS INFORMATION DISMISSED [BY TELEGRAPH! —OWN COB RESPONDENT] OPOTIKI, Tuesday At the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., a case which caused considerable local interest was a charge against tho Opotiki Rod and Gun Club that on October 20 last, at Tableland, on the farm property used by and for the purposes of tho club for a clay-bird shoot, tho club, not being, a chartered club, supplied liquor to its members and to other persons at tho shoot under circumstances which did not constitute a sale in law, but which showed that liquor so supplied by the club was indirectly paid for by voluntary contributions by its members and other persons present. Sergeant Millar prosecuted, and Mr. Hodgson- represented the club. Evidenco for tho prosecution was given by Constable Rice, who visited the farm and saw what was happening. Tho magistrate dismissed tho information, .and said that individual members of the club could bo charged with the offence.
