SUCCESS ON THE STAGE
Advice has boon received from Melbourne that Miss Elaine Hamill, the Taihape girl vrho is making remarkable progress on the Australian stage, was given an enthusiastic reception by theatre-goers and the press for her portrayal of one of the leading roles in " Sixteen," which opened in Melbourne recently, states a Wellington exchange. Miss Hamill, although only 23 years of age, gave a vital and convincing performance as the mother. " The Shining Hour," , in which Miss Hamill took the part played by Gladys Cooper in the London production, has just concluded a successful Melbourne season, and the play will probably be brought across the Tasman for a New Zealand season in the near future. Miss Hamill will be the leading lady with the company.
