FINAL TRACK TRIALS

WORK ON THE CINDERS WAIKATO HORSES FIT PRINCE PEDRO VERY MUSCULAR BY ABAYDOS The final truck work at ICpsorn yesterday was again confined to the cinders and the sand. I'he going was not conducive to speed, and no fast times were recorded, most of the work being of a sound nature only. The Waikato horses Our McKinney, Prince Pedro, Rose Marble and Waskasu, and tho Ashliurst-trained pair .Manoeuvre and Replica, all worked useful!}. Our McKinnev (L. N. Vcrnall) went several rounds free-leggod, hitting out nicely. Aftor his dual success at the September meeting Our McKinney was allowed to take matters easily for a little, time and put on sonic surplus condition. He seems to have benefited by his two races at Hamilton and should race prominently in his coming engagements.

Prince Pedro (T. Brennan) was let off with strong jogging on the sand. Although he has not raced since June, wlien ho ran a first and a second in the big sprint events, Prince Pedro is very bright and muscular. Uoso Marble (W. J. Eynon), without being asked to go fast at any stage, trotted with fine action over several circuits. She does not appear to have dono much work, and looks above herself. Although she did not race as well last season as her previous form suggested, Rose Marble is a promising trotter. Waska.su was worked on the lead and enjoyed the easy task. She looks in good shape and may have sharpened up with the race she had last Monday, when she showed speed in patches. Manoeuvre and Replica were jogged soundly with other members of S. M. August's, team. No fault can bo found with their condition, and both pacers may show improvement on their August ard September displays. Supertax (P. Walters) and Rare Key (J. Pringlo) worked separately at a sound pace. Recent racing and solid condition should stand to Supertax. Rare Rey appears to be assuming better racing shape. Bingen Sun (G. A. Williams) trotted without mistake over several circuits, infusing some dash into liis finishing effort. He has made some progress during tho last fortnight. Silver Watch (L. .J. Mahonev) hit out freely while stopping usefully along tho back. The grey was very disappointing in some of his races at Hamilton, but requires only to regain his right form to havo good prospects. Grey Mist and Cherrill were given steady tasks, tho latter, who has como along nicely, showing dash in a couple of short sprints. Captain Bolt (H. R. Fisken) trotted solidly over tho last round of two miles. Ho is in splendid condition, which should assist him to raco well over a distance. Blandford (A. W. Broughton) worked a strong two miles without hopples, rolling into his task in good stylo. He lias only had ono race since coming north, but should be improved with his subsequent sound work. Nimbus was allotted a similar task. Tho .Jcllicoe Handicap candidate is in great heart and if the track does not become soft ho should run a good raco. Spessiva (A. Bryco) was not asked for his best while covering three rounds, although sho stepped along at a good speed over tho last few furlongs.

Serviceable tasks 011 the sand were allotted to Young Rodney, Mountain Sun, Tnlindo. Auto Machine, Wee Machine, Aerial Bell, Guid Hairst, Logan's Pride, Guy Zolock, Lynn Worthy and Pink Ladv.

NEW PLYMOUTH HORSES CONTINGENT FOR WAVERLEY [BY TELECHAI'U —OWN COKKESI'ONDENTJ NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday Heavy rain followed by thick mist mado training operations impossible at New Plymouth yesterday, but the weather was much improved this morning although the course was still rather heavy, especially before breakfast. All galloping took place 011 tho trial grass. Gold Mission, Sporting Song and Mustang were associated in a good working gallop over six furlongs, the trio all moving well and handling the going in good style. There was little between Red Sand and The Tiger at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.4 4-5. This was a good effort as the track was heavy at the time. Tho Tiger is coming to hand nicely, although he does not look quite forward enough to show his best at Wavcrley. Red Sand shaped well for a hack, and should run prominently on Monday. Nuget sprinted a furlong down tho back and another up the straight. He has improved considerably lately and will have his first run in the Maiden at Waverley on Monday. It. Barlow's team —Refresher, Tahurangi, Headmistress and Golden Rills were restricted to strong pace-work 011 the inside. All look well and aro in good order for their engagements at Waverley. Hinky Pinky moved pleasingly over five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. She went fast over the early stages, running the first three in 37 1-5, but was stopping at the finish. She has plenty of nace but may not he quite forward enough to show her best at Waverley. Bonny Glow and lied Fox were not bustled to cover half a mile in 56 2-ss. Lady Kyra strode over tho same distance in 56 3-os. Sho is fit and will most probably start favourite in the Brewer Handicap at Waverley.
