HILL CLIMB NEXT WEEK

KEEN INTEREST SHOWN

Considerable interest has been aroused in the hill-climbing contest to bo held by the New Zealand Motor Racing Drivers' Association next Saturday at Queenstown Iload, in the Mount Roskill district, near Onehunga. The road is the extension of Pah Road, and tho gradient is not terribly sovere. There will bo three classes —up to 1500 c.c., over 1500 c.c. and open. A driver entering in more than one class will have to run up the hill in each class. Some drivers will probably drive different cars in each event. In addition to private cars, there will be racing models, and it is likely that some of the recently-constructed midget cars will compete. All events will be from a standing start. In view of the fact that the surface of tho road is good, the gradient is not inordinately steep and there are no sovere bends, high speeds should bo achieved, especially by new high-powered cars. As tho road is closed to ordinary traffic owing to a washout at tho foot of tho hill, the hill-climb will causo no inconvenienco to road-users. The grassy slopes on either side of the road will afford ample accommodation for spectators, of which there aro expected to bo a largo number. A collection will bo held in aid of a very deserving cause.
