BRAKE TESTING DEVICE

The testing of brakes is a very simple and speedy operation with a small brake testing instrument which has been obtained by tho traffic department of the Auckland City Council for tho purpose of making regular inspections of vehicles. Testing with tho new device was commenced last week. Tho novel apparatus, which has a dial similar in appearance to a speedometer, is clamped on to tho dashboard or running board and is sot level with tho car on a level surface. The car is then driven at a determined speed and tho brakes applied. The device registers the distance in feet in which tho vehicle is stopped and the percentage of efficiency of tho brakes.
