FALSE PRETENCE CHARGE

SUPREME COURT CASE A middle-aged garage proprietor, John Edward I'itzgerald, was charged in tho Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr. Justice Callan, that at Auckland on August 3, with intent to defraud, be obtained £75 from Roy Claire Peach by falsely representing that he had authority to sell a motorcar for £l9O, or, alternatively, through tho medium of a contract for tho purchase of tho car. The Crown was represented by Mr. R. Meredith, and accused, who pleaded not guilty, conducted his own defence. After several witnesses had been heard the hearing was adjourned until this morning.
