NORTH AUCKLAND NEWS

Mrs. E. Smith, of Okaihau, is visiting Auckland. Mrs. J. Pausina, of Kaikohe, left for Auckland last week. Miss B. Waite, of Auckland, is visiting her sister, Mrs. R. Jenkins, of Kaikohe. Miss E. McLeod. of Ohaeawai, left for Auckland last week. Miss Mabel Ford's queen carnival committee held a successful " oddity dance " at Awanui. The strange and varied costumes donned by dancers created much amusement. Mr. C. Edgeley was in charge of tho programme. The Peria Hall presented a festive appearance recently when the OruruPeria Women's Institute held a ball in celebration of the institute's fourth birthday. Mr. W. Thomas was in charge of the floor arrangements, and the grand march was led by Mrs. F. Jacentho and Mr. C. Barriball. Miss Matthews and Mr. A. Trigg, and Miss Lamblev and Mr. C. Forsyth, won the competition dances. The birthday cake was cut by the oldest member, Mrs. Francis. Among those present were:— Mesdam<;s F. Jacentho. C. Barriball, J. Walton, L.
