Hinuera. —Mrs. do Renzy, president, gave an address on her visit to the Dominion conference. Goods from the Institute for the Blind were on sale, and over £4 worth of basketware was sold. A spring flower competition bright forth somo beautiful exhibits. Mataniata. —Mrs. Stewart, delegate to the Dominion conference, road her report, which greatly interested members. An amusing competition was held. Piarere. —The institute held its first mooting recently. Mrs. Penitito gave an instructive demonstration on basket weaving from prepared ilax. Taupo.—Mrs. Hooper, delegate to the Dominion conference, presented her report. Demonstrations on the making ol silk stocking and sheep's wool mats were given. Tauranga-o-moana. —The roll call was limericks on members' names. A demonstration of eggshell mosaic work was given, and samples of the work shown. Mrs. Gordon, president of the Mataniata district gave a talk on institute work and aims. To Poi. —A demonstration was given on the art of tatting, and members were entertained by a play-reading given by tho dramatic circle. The competition was a jar of marmalade. Northern Wairoa Federation. Ihe first drama festival was held recently, nine institutes taking part. Ihrce sessions were held drawing capacity houses. Miss J. Broughton-Carr, of Whangarei, who was adjudicator, commented most favourably on tho standard sot, which she considered to be high for the first attempt. Tho awards were:—-First: Ruawai institute, which presented Between the Soup and the Savoury. Second: Dargaville, which played "Sinking." Other presentations were: —To Kopiirvi. "The Shabby Trampor;" Aranga, "Wanted a General; Kat.U', " Mrs. Martin's Hat;" Omana, "Meeting her Match;" To Kopuru, "Tho .Tnlv Wedding;" Tatarnriki, "The Burglar," and Dargaville, " Joint Owners in Spain."
