OLYMPIC ROWING
♦ DOMINION REPRESENTATION COST OF EIGHT TOO HEAVY [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Tuesday Owing to the heavy expenditure involved, there is little prospect of a New Zealand rowing eight competing at the Olympic Games in Berlin next year. The possibility of sending a four or even a pair or double-sculling crew, however, is relatively better. In the annual report of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association it is pointed out that the cost of sending an eight to Berlin would approximate £250 a man. The Rowing Council intends to deal with the question of representation during the coming season, bearing in mind the that any nominations made must be of crews right up to Olympic standard.
