CANTERBURY RESIDENT MR. H. A. KNIGHT £160,000 £IOOO FOR RACING TRAINER MEMORIAL TO LIMERICK [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday The estate of the late Mr. H. A. Knight, sheepfarmer and racehorse owner, of "Racecourse Hill" station, was sworn for probate at less than £160,000. The bequests are nearly all of a private nature. Special reference to his racing stud is made in Mr. Knight's will and ho leaves £IOOO to F. D.-Jones, his trainer over a long period. Mr. Knight also directs that Jones be consulted about the disposal of the stud. He left his horse Limerick to his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Woodhouse, together with £SO for his keep and for a rpugh memorial stone to mark Limerick's grave. The deceased left £SOO to the Anglican Church property trustees, the interest to be used to 'augment- the stipend of the vicar of Darfield. F. D. Jones took up the position of trainer to Mr. Knight in March, 1915. During the period that Jones was training for him Mr. Knight raced only 25 horses, all but eight of which he bred himself. The estimated stakemoney won by them was over £76,000, a wonderful achievement for what was really a modest establishment. Limerick, by Limond from Medley, won £38,729 10s in stakes, his record being 28J wins, 12 seconds and two thirds. THE LATE MR. J. CONNOLLY, M.P.
