TRIALS AT EPSOM

WORK ON GRASS TRACK GOOD TIMES RECORDED WEE MACHINE DOES BEST / BY ABAYDO9 Tho grass track at Epsom was in excellent order yesterday morning, when some good times wore registered. Tho flags were out 25ft., giving ample room for working in toams. The best performance was credited to Wee Machine, whilo other Jellicoo Handicap candidates to go well were Kowpie's Triumph, Nimbus and Auto Machine. Nimbus (A. W. Broughton), Auto Machine (A.. Broun) and Wee Machine (W. Willetts) left tho milo and a-lialf post at intervals of one second, and with a fine finishing effort Wee Machine got up to pass the post in lino with Nimbus and record 3.28. Nimbus led to tho half in 1.10, but the pace was reduced, and he reached the milo in 2,23. Auto Machine and Woo Machine moved up along the back, and once into tho straight Wee Machine loft his siro and with a good effort reached Nimbus at the post, clocking 1.6 for tho last half. Wee Machine gavo a smooth display and showed somo of the dash and stamina that won him good races in previous seanons.

Nimbus did not relish acting as pacemaker and bad to be kept up to his work in tho middle stages. Once tho speed was on, ho put plenty of energy into his final effort, showing 1.7 for tho last half, the full journey in 3.30. Auto Machine ran 3.31, but he was not asked a serious question until the last few furlongs. » Haerenga Pai's Good Finish

Ariel Bell (C. G. Lee) went away with Nimbus, but after going a quarter broke her hopples, and was pulled up. She was worked two laps free-legged and went freely for the last six furlongs at a 2.30 gait. Blandford [A. W. Broughton) jumped away in front of Haerenga Pai (W. Willetts) for a milo and a-half, but after the former had made play for most of the way Haerenga Pai finished with a rattle to beat him in 3.36. Blandford reached the mile in 2.26 and was still in the lead at the distance, where Haerenga Pai made her run, going on to win and run the last half in 1.10 2-5.

Haerenga Pai, who has made good progress since her raco last month, showed dash and determination in her final effort. Blandford went solidly, recording 3.37, the last half in 1.11. Mountain Sun (W. Fleming) took 5.7 to trot two miles, but ho was not fully extended, although he ran the last half in 1.12. The first mile was run very ensily in 2.37. Mountain Sun is in splendid condition.

Argolis (S. M. August) finished better than, Lucky Love (J. Garnett) at the end of two miles run at a 2.30 gait. Lucky Love showed the way to tho mile and a-half in 3.49 and then set out at a. merry clip with Argolis in pursuit. Lucky Love hung on in front until a furlong from home, whero Argolis came through to win and show 1.10 2-5 for the final half. Lucky Love and Argolis are in good order, and it will not be for lack of condition if they fail to race well. Great Chun (S. M. August) was sent two rounds free-legged in saddle, but except for a smart sprint along the back, he was not asked for much speed. • Parrish Belle Trots Well Guid Hairst (G. Paton) went away from the mile and a-half five seconds ahead of Kewpie's Guy (J. Gee) and Worthy Chief (A. W. Broughton), seven in front of Parrish Belle (C. G. Lee) and nine in front of Kewpie's Triumph (K. Bell), and running 3.40, he was never headed. . Parrish Belle, going away very smartly and trotting fast, was soon in second place, and crossing the top Kewpie's Triumph made a forward move.'ln the run home they considerably reduced Guid Hairst's lead, but he held on to finish in front, going 1.10 for the last half. A feature of Guid Hairst's display was his solidncss. Parrish Belle gave a fine display of trotting and ran tho last mile and a-quarter in !2.56, tho last half in 1.9. She is in good order to tackle the pacers. Kewpie's Triumph worked in his best style, putting; plenty of determination into the final half in 1.8, while his 3.30 for the journey was a useful task. Kewpie's Guy wan not driven out over the last furlong, and Worthy Chief, after reaching the mile and a-quarter at a 2.24 gait, was pulled up. Charteris Bay (G. Cole) went away for a mile *atul a-quarter in front of Bingen Run (G. Webb), but broke early, and refused to settle down. Bingen Sun, after a bad break in tho run home, went 3.22, tho last half in 1.18. In a second effort Bingen Sun trotted solidly to register 3.17 and 1.13. Audo Patch (C. G. Lee) took 5.13 to complete two mile 3, the last half in 1.12 3-5 and the last quarter in 355. He did not trot as attractively as usual. Realty (E. S. Groat) went away from the mile and a-quarter at a smart clip, but before going six furlongs tangled badly. Settling down, he completed tho task in 3.11, tho last half in 1.11. A Barrier Start Beginning much better than Glandore (A. McGarry) from a barrier start, Spessiva (A. Bryco) led all the way to run a mile and a-quarter in 3.5. Glandore moved up along tho back and at the distance Mas abreast on terms, but Spessiva finished on gamely to hold him off and clock 1.10 for the last half. Spessiva is very bright again. Agnes Bingen (E. S. Groat) paced smoothly over three laps. In a couple of short sprints she showed much dash. Young Rodney (W. Willotts), Autumn Lou (G. H. Stubbs) and Elissa (W. T. Dye) went away from the mile and a-half, but the last-named broke and lost a lot of ground, and at tho finish Young Rodney just shaded Autumn Lou in 3.49 2-5. After Elissa settled down she trotted fast to be handy to tho leaders at the milo in 2 35 2-5, and at tho quarter post she had drawn level, but tho effort took too much out of her, and she could not hold her older rivals at the end. Young Rodney, who trotted comfortably,, showe.d 1.14 for the last half. Elissa, trotting faultlessly, ian tho last milo and a-quarter in 3.5, a useful effort for ono in tho novice trotting class.
