CAMPBELL PARK CLUB COURTS IN FINE CONDITION The Campbell Park Club has commenced the season with its courts in excellent condition, and there is plenty of talent offering. Six teams are participating in the inter-club competitions, and present indications point to the fielding of strong teams in every instance, u pleasing feature being the number of young players gaining welldeserved recognition. Among those deserving of special mention are T. Pountney, A. Bowker, C. Sweet and Misses M. Patterson and B. Warren. SINGLE COURT CLUBS keenne:ss OF SUB-ASSOCIATION A little-known but very enthusiastic body, the single courts sub-association, which is linked up with the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association and competes in inter-club fixtures under its jurisdiction, is making steady progress and is likely to increase its activities consderably during the next few years. The pioneers of this movement were Mrs. Howard, of Takaro Club, and Mr. Nichols, of the Selwyn Club. The association was first formed four years ago with four clubs. This number has now increased to 12, with a merabershio of 250 players. The association is one of the most active tennis bodies in Auckland, its object being to promote competition between single court clubs and encourage tennis generally. Last year Te Koreanga won the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association s pennant, with Takaro runner-up. A very successful season is assured this year, and, in addition to the inter-club pennant, interest has been added to the competition by the donation of a handsome silver cup, presented by the Farmers' Trading Company.
