THE MACMILLAN TARTAN
Sir, —The fiery cross of Scotland will be carried far and wide to the adherents of the Clan MacLeod bocause the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Ministor of Agriculture, has dared to wear the colours of the MacLeods, in the shape of a blazer at Hataitai recently. The colours as described in the Herai.d of Saturday last are not those of the Clan 'Macmillan. This clan's colours are bright red on yellow; no blackwhatsoever in them. MacLeods' plaid is comprised of a black check on yellow with a narrow red stripe running horizontally and vertically, spaced some two and a-half inches. The Hon. Minister should refer to Johnston's "Scottish Clans and Their Tartans," pages 60 and 6G. T. 0. Kirkpatrick.
