SITE FOR CHEST HOSPITAL

Sir, —I am surprised at the proposal to place this hospital at such a bleak place as Penrose being given a moment's consideration. The invalids require a warm Knd cheerful place to live in and to my mind a site on the heights at the back of St. Heliers would be splendid for the purpose, plenty of sun and a beautiful outlook for the patients. There is vacant land there, and it would bo most convenient for medical men and friends of patients. G. Sir, —I heartily agree with Mr. John Clark's letter in Saturday's Herald. I cannot think of any place more unsuitable for a chest hospital than Penrose. Having had a weak chest in the north 1 came to Auckland and eventually got work in Penrose, but was worse there than in the north. Eventually 1 secured work in the hills near the ! Razorbaek, and from then 011 steadily improved so that after 18 months I was perfectly well and have remained so ever since. There are ideal situations on these bills and at a cheap price and near enough to Auckland for an institution of this kind, so let us hope for the good of the poor "chest" sufferers that there will be no mistakes made when a site is finally decided on. Quack.
