NEW ROUTE FOR STOCK
DIVERSION AT HAMILTON BOROUGH ENGINEER'S PLAN ["FROM OCR own correspondent] HAMILTON. Tucßtlay Tentative proposals for the construction of a stock route on th'e western side of the Hamilton Lake were contained in a letter received yesterday at a meeting of the Waipa County Council from the Hamilton borough engineer, Mr. 11. Worley. The land through which the projected road would be constructed lies in the county area, but is owned by the Hamilton Domain Board. By the opening up of this road, said Mr. Worley, it would be possible for stock to be diverted from the present route through lljiakiwi Street and Lake Road, thus avoiding passing through the business area of Frankton Junction. The estimated cost of the work was £IBOO, and the Borough Council would be willing to co-operate with the County Council. The letter was discussed, several members expressing the opinion that as the proposed road was largely beneficial to Hamilton, the Borough Council should bear the major portion of the cost and take the initiative in the matter.
