INCREASED PENSIONS
OLD-AGE PAYMENTS ANSWERS TO INQUIRIES Old-age pensions under the restored rates, retrospective to July 31, will he paid to-day, when all persons entitled to the full pension will draw an additional 12s 6d. Future payments will be 4s 2d more than the £3 lis Sd a month received during the period of the cuts. Numerous inquiries have been received by "Advocatus" concerning old-age pensions. He states that the pensions are now increased to £45 10s a year, and that the amount of income a person may earn is increased from £4l a year to £52, before any deduction is made from the pension. In effect this means that £1 will be deducted from the pension for every £1 over £52 of income. The original provision as to accumulated property is unchanged, £1 being deducted from the pension for every £lO in excess of £SO worth of accumulated property. Income earned by a wife separated from her husband docs not affect the pension payable to the husband.
