Dr. Jean Marie Aubin, S.M., was consecrated as Roman Catholic Bishop of the Southern Solomons. Archbishop O'Shea, Metropolitan of New Zealand, Bishop Whyte, of Punedin, and Bishop Brodie, of Christchurch, officiated at the ceremony. The consecrating prelate at the Pontifical Mass in the morning with Archbishop O'Shea, who was supported by Bishops Whyte and Brodie, with the Rt. Rev. Father Connolly as assistant priest.
