END THIS WEEK STATEMENT BY MR. FORBES PROPOSED LEGISLATION CURTAILMENT PROBABLE [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Monday In spite of a fairly heavy programme ahead the Government still hopes to complete the business of the session of Parliament this week, according to a statement made .this evening •by the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes. "Wo should be able to finish by Friday night," said Mr. Forbes, "although it may bo necessary to call tho House together on Saturday morning purely for the formal business of adjourning." Mr. Forbes said that as much legislation as possible would be dealt with, but it was probablo that a good many of tho measures on the order paper and others which had been contemplated would be shelved. Members wero very anxious to get away to their constituencies in order to commence their election campaigns. The Prime Minister hopes to pay a visit to his electorate during the coming week-end. He has one or two engagements there early next week, after which he will return to the North Island and proceed to Napier, where ho is to address a chamber of commerce gathering. After that he proposes to commence his campaign in Hurunui and, if sufficient time is available, to make a brief tour of the Dominion. He will then return to his electorate for some final campaigning before the actual date of the poll.
