THE TROUBLE SPREADING FIVE MORE PITS INVOLVED (Received October 15, 10.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 15 In sympathy with the striking miners in the Nine Mile Point colliery. South Wales, 75 miners in the West Pit have refused to come to tho surface until non-federation miners are dismissed. The strike has spread to four other Monmouthshire pits, involving nearly 3000 men. They descended 'the pits ostensibly to begin work, but the moment the cages reached the bottom they sent up word that they did not intend to work and would not leave the underground workings until the non-federa-tion men wore dismissed.' The Nows Chronicle says the dispute threatens to involve the entire South Wales coalfield. The "miners' leader declared to-day: "The position is grave. Jt looks liko boing a long, fierce •ttugglo.".
