SOCIAL EVENING
TRAVELLER WELCOMED HOME A hurriedly-arranged but very happy welcome to Mr. John Stormont, sen., on his return from California, was hold in tho Domain Kiosk on Saturday evening. This was tho first of a round of social functions to bo held by the Auckland Master Bakers' Association's recently-constituted social committee. Tho guests wero received by Mrs. C. Cowan, who woro a black and silver tunic over black marocain.
Interspersed between dances an excellent programmo of vocal and elocutionary items was given by Mrs. Charles Stormont, Mrs. R.. E. N. Matthews and Messrs. S. Stevenson, K. Smith and F. Mcßnight. Madam Dunne played tho accompaniments. A toast to the guest of the evening was proposed by Mr. J. McGregor, and, in replying to it, Mr. Stormont gave an account of his travels. Mr. J. Probert, Mr. Stormont's travelling companion on tho trip, proposed the toast of tho Master Bakers' Association. This was replied to by Mr. Claude Cowan. Mr. E. L. Brownlio proposed tho toast of the ladies, to which Mr. H. P. Burton replied. The latter also toasted tho artists.
Among those present were:—Mrs. J. Stormont, sen., who woro a frock of black satin; Mrs. Hartmann, green lace; Mrs. A. E. Brownlio, primrose georgette; Mrs. Smytho, black crepo do chine; Mrs. E. L. Blampied, orange satin; Mrs. R. H. Montgomery, navy blue and white crepo do chine; Mrs. R. Stormont, floral crepe do chine; Mrs. James Stormont, checked organdie; Mrs. Wilson, black crepo do chine; Mrs. Chas. Stormont, green organdio; Madam Dunne, black georgette; Mrs. R. E. N. Matthews, black velvet; Mrs. J. Prober,t, orange marocain; Mrs. J. McGregor, black velvet; Mrs. H. P. Burton, black velvet; Miss Elmslio, whito diagonal crepe; Miss A. Barton, black laco; and Miss P. Shaw, brown and whito marocain.
