SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS
Members and guests of tho vocal circle of the Society of Alusicians were addressed by Mr. Varlo.v Hudson on the subject of oratorio and opera on Friday evening. The following excerpts were sung:—"Oh, had I Jubal's Lyre" (Handel), duct from "Norma" (Bellini), "Gianni Schicci" (Puccini), "La Wally" (Catnlarii), "Oh, I Know That Life will Never" (Mozart), "Card Nome" (Verdi), "The Faery Song" (Bonghton), "Ombra Mai Fu" (Handel), "Casta Diva" (Bellini), and aria from "Romeo and Juliet" (Vaccaj). The singers were the Misses Phyllis Lindridge, Reka and Nancy Paterson, Margaret* Young, Alary Murphy, Mary Enwright, Radia King, Alay Mitchell and Edna Smith. Tho instrumentalist guest of the evening, Mr. Owen Jensen, played "Intermezzo and Ballade" op. 118 (Brahms), "Minuet" (Shields), "Gigue" (Loeillv), and excerpt from "Susanna" (Handel). The accompanists were Aliss Gladys Searell and Aliss Laurie Young. Air. W. D. Webber presided, and supper was served by tho lady member*.
