LAST OFFICIAL NIGHT An animated sccno was presented at the Athenian Club on Saturday, when the Inst official night of tho season was held in tho Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's hall. Mr. Percy Dawes was host for the occasion. The programme was entitled "A Night in Australia," the stage being arranged to represent an Australian scene. There was an excellent attendance of members and guests, and during the night they were presented with Australian sundowners' hats and other novelties suitablo to the occasion.

A varied programme had been arranged, tho following taking part:— Miss W. Hill and Miss Beryl Smith, who sang a duet; Mr. Bcavis; who played an accordcon solo; Miss I'. McLeod, and Mr. L. Russell, who contributed songs; Mr. I. Harris, who presented novelty sketches; Miss Noni Wright and Mr. Parsons, who gave a humorous sketch; Mr. W. Purdio, who gave bird and animal impersonations; and Mr. and Mrs. S. Asquith, who presented a comedy sketch. Among thoso prcsont were: —Mrs. A. Roberts, Mrs. Wilfred Wright, Mrs. H. H.
