WHAKATANE BOROUGH
IMPROVED FINANCES [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHAKATANE. Monday The report presented to the Whakatane Borough Council by the treasurer for the six months ended September 30 showed the financial position of the borough to be steadily improving. Revenue had a buoyant tendency, particularly in regard to arrears of rates payments, which had exceeded expcctatloAS sound position was indicated in the revenue <f the electricity deportment, notwithstanding the reduction in charges made by the council last May. Net receipts for the past six months exceeded those for the corresponding period of 1934. ;
