OFFICIAL OPENINGS FUNCTION AT MOUNT EDEN Fine weather favoured tho opening of tho Mount Eden Bowling Club's season on Saturday, the greens being in perfect condition. About 300 visitors and members were welcomed by tho president, Mr. A. Dignan, who congratulated those responsible for the condition of the grounds. Mr. A. E. Whitlen, on behalf of the Auckland Centre, wished the club a successful season. Tho Mayor of Mount Eden, Air. T. McNab, also spoke. A match between a president's team (Dignan, McNab, Hull, Joll) and a team representing tho Auckland Centre (Whitten, Sheath. Pascoe, Malier) resulted in a draw, each side scoring '2l points. PLAY AT HELENSVILLE [from oub own correspondent! HELENSVILLE. Monday Tho official opening of the Helensville Bowling Club's season took place on Saturday afternoon in perfect weather, and there was a very largo attendance of members and visitors. The president, Mr. Strong, referred to the work of tho green superintendent, Mr. McAllister, and the greenkeeper, Mr. Cooper, in providing such an excellent playing greon, and conveyed the thanks of the club to them. After Mrs. Strong had thrown the first jack and played tho first bowl, Mr. Strong declared the season open. Several interesting games wore played.

THE GOLDFIELDS REORGANISATION DISCUSSED [tiy telegraph—-own correspondent] PAEROA. Alonday Tho annual meeting of tho Goldfields Bowling Centre was hold on Saturday. Mr. W. Smith, of Thames, presided. It was decided that the Clothier Shield competition should bo a one-round competition between the various affiliated clubs, the Waikino and Hikutaia Clubs to play as one club. There was considerable, discussion on the advisability of breaking away from the South Auckland Centre. The majority ol tho delegates ugreed that it would bo better to have a smaller centre, and they were instructed to placo the suggestion before their varioin clubs. Officers were elected an follows-Presi-dent. Air. J A. Clothier; vice-presidents. Alessrs. W, J. Towers (patron) aud W. Smith (Thameß); executive, tho president, tho secretary and Mr. Maingay (Te Aroha); secretary, Mr. H. Wood (To Aroha). It waß decided to recommend to the Scuth Auckland Bowling Centre that th& singles championship should bi> doomed on the two-lifo system.
