THAMES ADMINISTRATION
PROPOSED AMALGAMATION REQUEST FOR A COMMISSION [by telegraph—own correspondent] THAMES. Monday Further reference to tho recent conference in Wellington regarding the amalgamation of Thames Harbour Board and tho borough was mado by Mr. C. J. Garland at a meeting of tho Thames Borough Advisory Board this afternoon. Ho proposed that tho borough should write to the Minister of Internal Affairs asking him to consider the advisability of setting up a commission to consider a report on the amendment of tho boundaries of tho harbour district, the representation of tho board, the administration of the harbour district and tho borough and tho rates of interest on the security. If it was left, said Mr. Garland, to the present parties to consider tho matter, it was evident no finality would be reached.
Mr. C. S. Donovan said, as far as tho borough council and the Harbour Board were concerned, they were in agreement, but it Ivas tho debenture holders who were at a variance. Tho motion was carried unanimously.
