DRAPER STEALS GOODS
IJSED TO STOCK SHOP FORMER EMPLOYER'S LOSS YOUNG MAN FOR SENTENCE A charge of stealing betweon August 1 and 12 a quantity of women's and men's clothing of a total value of £l6O 12s lid, the property of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Limited, was admitted by a draper, Stanley Gracio (Mr. Dyson), aged 24, in the Polioe Court, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday. Evidence was given that accused had been employed by tho firm for about 10 years and recently left of his own accord to tako over a business on his own account at Manurewa. Prior to his departure four frocks were missed, but accused was not questioned about the matter at tho time. However, accused's shop at Manurewa was visited and three of tho frocks were found there, with other goods belonging to his former employers. When accused left tho firm ho was given an extra week's wages and a presentation. Detective Slater said ho and Detective Sneddon had investigated the thefts. At first accused denied that he had taken any articles, but later admitted that ho had stolen goods valued at £l6O 12s lid. In a statement ho said ho had carried tho goods out of the firm's premises during working hours. Accused was committed to tho Supreme Court for sentence, bail of £IOO being renewed.
