ANDRESEN BEATS SINGH INDIAN UNABLE TO CONTINUE BOUT ENDS IN SEVENTH ROUND Unable to continue after having concoded a submission fall in the seventh round, Jaget Singh, 16st. 111b., lost the decision to 010 Andresen, 15st 81b., in the professional heavy-weight wrestling contest staged at the Town Hall last evening. Singh had previously secured a submission fall in the fifth round with an Indian deathlock. Features of Contest After preliminary sparring, Andresen took tho initiativo with flying headlock throws, and, pulling Singh back as ho attempted to crawl under the ropes, ho applied a punishing standing splits. A brilliantly-applied reverse toehold performed with tho legs brought Singh to tho mat in the second, Andreson putting considerable pressure into tho hold. Singh twice narrowly missed getting into position for his deathlock.

Changing quickly from a semi-Boston crab to the comploto hold, Andreson looked likely to secure a fall in the third, but the Indian threw his opponent off beforo the latter was in a position to exert the full pressure. There was lively action at the start of the fourth, Singh swinging on the top rope to drop 'Andreson witn a vigorous kick in the chest. The latter squared matters, however, when on two occasions he scissored Singh's head between the top and second rope and then commenced to kick his helpless opponent. Andresen narrowly mifjsed applying a Swedish crab, but ho had Singh in an arm stretch at the gong. Shortly after the start of the fifth round, Singh escaped from a rockingchair splits and neatly applied his deathlock hold to secure a submission fall. A figure-four head scissors in the sixth round gave Andresen a temporary advantage. The Indian looked jubilant, when, tapping Andresen on the back, he escaped from a dangerous hold, Andresen being under the impression that tho referee had awarded him a fall. After being dumped three times in tho seventh, Andresen secured a body scissors, quickly changed to a Swedish crab and secured a fall.

Amateur Preliminaries Welter-weight.—F: Murphy. lOst. 61b., beat D. Hardy, lOst. 41b., on points. Murphy was the aggressor for the greater part of the time, but concentrated too much on trying to dump his opponent. Middle-weight.—B. Tupp, list. 41b., drew with D. Marsh, list., on points. Tupp forced matters from tho start, a. slight superiority in strength and tactics giving him an advantage, but hia opponent countered cleverly. Middle-weight.—C. Fraser, lOst. 121b., beat F. Walding, lOst. 121b., bv one fall gained in the third round with a press following a dump. Catch-weight.—C. .Tones, 9st. 21b., beat F. Thompson, ost. 81b., by one fall secured immediately after the start of the bout with a flying mare and press. Both wrestlers gave sterling exhibitions, applying aiM countering holds with speed and cleverness.
