OBITUARY
MR. C. W. TURjNBCJLL The death occmred on Sunday of Mr. Charles William Turnbull at his residence, Church Street, Onehunga, at the age of 81. He was born at Dundee in 1854 and arrived at Auckland with his parents by the ship Whirlwind 76 years ago. As a young man Mr. Turnbull entered the employ 1 of Messrs. Guthrie and Larnach, of Dtmedin, who had extensive interests in the kauri forests near the Manukau Heads. In the early 'eighties he was in business in Newmarket and acted as returning officer for the first election of Mayor and councillors of that borough. Ho joined the employ of the Kamri Timber Company in 1886 and subsequently wa# clerk to the late Mr. D. Neillson, Onehunga, for 20 years. He retired in 1910. He is survived by one son and one daughter.
MB. SIDNEY WILLIAMSON The death has occurred of Mr. Sidney Williamson, a prominent Christchurch musician. Until he became ill last year Mr. Williamson was conductor of the Christchurch South Choral Society. He was prominent as a judge at competitions throughout the Dominion. His keen interest in raising the status of his profession was largely responsible for the passage of .legislation providing for the registration of music teachers. He was a member of the registration board from the time of its inception in 1928 until his death. Mr. Williamson was a son of Mr. Philip Williamson, of Christchurch. He is survived by a widow and two children.
