COSTS OF LEGAL ACTION
HOSPITAL BOARD CASE REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Monday A request was received by the Whangarei Hospital Board to-day that the board should contribute toward the costs and judgment of tho Court of Appeal decision in Llie Logan case, by which the Wnitaki Hospital Board is liable for £1350, with costs totalling ahout.£looo. Tho Waitaki Board stated that it had an assuranco that if a majority of tho hospital boards would assist financially statutory powers would be given them to do so. It was pointed out that, as the case was one affecting all boards, tho liability might well be borne collectively.
The chairman, Mr. J. A. S. Mackav, said that if any assistance wore given the Waitaki Board it should come from tho Government.
It was decided to advise that tho Whangarei Board was unable to comply with the request.
