HOUSING IN DUNEDIN
civic scheme approved PURCHASE OF SECTIONS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Monday
Approval was given by tho City Council to-night to a scheme brought down by the Finance Committee for the erection of houses on the council's property at Clyde Hill, Cavershnm. The scheme involves the sale of 50 sections of one-eighth acre each at an average cost of £125. The council would have to find £2OOO for roading.
The Mayor, tho Rev. Ji. T. Cox, said the money could bo obtained at 4 per cent. Tho total cost of a house and section would be about £7OO and tho total cost to tho purchaser would be about 10s a week and additional payments would go toward payment of principal and other expenses. It was proposed that private institutions should supply the finance.
